Turkey > Spiritual Pilgrimages
Turkey’s heritage is not only historical and natural, but also spiritual. Many books of the New Testament center around sites in Turkey, some of the most significant were visited by St Paul and by St. John. Paul made missionary journeys through this area three times, spreading the Word in synagogues and to Gentiles alike. Today, you can follow his footsteps to better understand the world he lived in. St. John was also an important figure, founding an important church in Ephesus, the capital of this area, where he lived with Mary the Mother of Jesus through the last years of her life. He was exiled to the isle of Patmos, where he witnessed the Revelation of the Apocalypse, which included instructions to seven important churches in Asia Minor that you can visit today.
