CHILE

Why Chile?

Chile occupies a narrow strip of land between the Pacific ocean and the Andes mountains in South America. Chile is a country of remarkable contrasts and breathtaking beauty, offering landscapes ranging from the northern Atacama desert to the Parinacota volcano to the cosmopolitan capital of Santiago. And while mountain ranges and ocean sprawl its edges, the center and southern end of the country boast lush valleys, vineyards, farms and lakes. Such diversity is unique to Chile, a country whose stable and open economy is thriving, and whose modern infrastructure, communications and multiple services place Chile as one of the most prosperous countries in South America. The culture of Chile is also a staple of the community, known for its focus on folkloric music, its national dance called the “cueca,” and its position in the literary world as the “pais de poetas,” or the country of poets. Chile is a country beautiful in its geography and rich in its culture… make Chile the next destination for your vacation, where there truly is something for everyone.

In a nutshell
  • Chile boasts the Atacama desert, a uniquely and landscape with beautiful views of volcanoes, salt marshes, lakes and of the ancient homes of the indigenous Aymara people.
  • Chile has beautiful glaciers and such routes as Chile’s Inside Passage, the Beagle Channel and Cape Horn are definitely worth exploring.
  • Chuquicamata is home to one of the world’s biggest open-pit copper mines.
  • Santiago houses Chile’s Pre-Colombian Art Museum, a sophisticated sampling of the artistry of the cultures that thrived in South America before the arrival of the conquistadores. Santiago is also a beautiful city for vigorous walks. When you walk to the Virgin Mary atop Cerro San Cristóbal, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view over Santiago.
  • La Serena, a Chilean town that is home to some of the region’s most beautiful beaches, offers unique colonial architecture and restored churches as well.
  • Chile is known for its Carmanère red wine, which is locally produced in the vineyards of Concha y Toro, one of Chile’s oldest and most distinguished winemakers, just a short journey fron Santiago.
  • Chile is also home to the Patagonia rainforests. Here Alerce trees millennia old fill the rainforests, and one can see Chile’s unique rainforest wildlife that call these forests home.
  • The Juan Fernández islands are worth exploring as they repeat the footsteps of Robinson Crusoe, located about 400 miles west of Valparaiso.
  • Easter Island, one of the world’s most remote inhabited islands, is a special territory of Chile. It lies 2,300 miles east of Chile and is home to the mysterious moai stone figures which stand up to 30 feet tall. It is one of Chile’s six UNESCO World Heritage sites.
